Google AI Overview checker

Check if a keyword triggers an AI Overview — and which sources get cited.

Type any search query to run a live Google AI Mode check: whether a generative AI answer appears, the answer text, and every source it cites. Add your domain to see if you're cited — the core AI-visibility question. Powered by the UnifAPI GEO endpoint, the same data path agents use for AI Overviews monitoring.

How do I check if a keyword triggers a Google AI Overview?

Type the query above and run the check. It runs one live Google AI Mode search in the United States, in English, and returns whether an AI answer appears, the answer text, and every source the answer cites.

How do I see if my website is cited in an AI Overview?

Add your domain next to the query. The result marks your domain in the list of cited sources, says whether it is cited at all, and lists the 5 domains the answer cites most.

Why not just search Google myself?

Your own Google results change with your location, language, sign-in and search history, and many queries show no AI answer at all. This check runs a clean query with fixed settings and writes the cited sources out as a list you can compare from one run to the next.

How much does an AI Overview check cost?

Sample checks are free and labeled as samples. A live check starts at 10 credits ($0.01) from a UnifAPI workspace, and the first top-up adds a one-time 2,000-credit bonus, enough for about 200 live checks.

What you can see, and what you can't

You can see

  • Whether the query shows an AI answer on Google
  • The AI answer text
  • Every source the answer cites, in order, with its domain
  • Whether your domain is cited
  • The 5 domains cited most for the query

You can't see

  • Results for other countries or languages in this tool (the API takes a location and a language)
  • History over time from one check (a workspace can schedule checks)
  • Answers from ChatGPT, Perplexity or other AI assistants
  • Why Google picked one source over another

FAQ

Questions about this tool

How does the AI Overview checker work?

Each check runs one live Google AI Mode search through the UnifAPI GEO endpoint and returns the generative answer, its cited sources, and — if you entered a domain — whether that domain appears in the answer or its citations. It's the same evidence an agent gets when it calls the API.

What is a Google AI Overview?

An AI Overview is the AI-generated answer Google shows above the classic results for many queries. It synthesizes an answer from a set of cited web sources, so being cited in it is the new equivalent of ranking #1. Our glossary covers the term in depth.

Can I monitor AI Overviews for my keywords over time?

Sample checks here are free, and live checks spend workspace credits — the first top-up includes a one-time 2,000-credit bonus. Create a workspace to run scheduled checks on a keyword set, store daily snapshots, and track your AI share of voice against competitors — the same GEO endpoints, automated.

Is there an AI Overview API?

Yes — this tool is a thin UI over the UnifAPI GEO API. The geo/serp endpoint returns live AI Mode answers with cited sources and target-domain visibility; companion endpoints cover LLM mention tracking and AI search volume. See /apis/geo for the full surface.

Do I need llms.txt or AI-specific markup to appear in AI Overviews?

No. Google's AI features use core Search ranking and quality systems, and Google says no special AI markup, llms.txt file, or AI-only rewrite is required. The reliable work is still crawlable, useful, well-sourced content that answers the query clearly.

Is this an AI Mode checker too?

Yes. Each run queries Google's AI Mode — the surface behind AI Overview-style generative answers — and reports the answer text plus its cited sources. If you searched for an 'AI Mode checker' or 'AI Overview checking tool', this is that check: one live query, real citations, no scraping setup.
