AI visibility
AI visibility is how often, and how favorably, your brand shows up inside AI answers — the share of AI responses to relevant prompts that mention or cite you versus your competitors.
Also searched as: AI visibility checker, AI visibility tracking, brand visibility in AI.
It is the AI-era equivalent of search rankings and share of voice combined. Instead of 'where do I rank for this keyword,' the question becomes 'when someone asks ChatGPT about my category, am I in the answer — and is a competitor there instead?'
You measure it by running representative prompts across AI engines and recording who gets cited, with what sentiment, and which sources the engine pulled from. Tracking it over time turns a vague worry ('are we losing traffic to AI?') into a scoreboard you can act on.
The single biggest lever on AI visibility is off-site: being mentioned and discussed on third-party sites. One analysis found brand mentions correlate with AI visibility far more strongly than backlinks do.
Brand mentions correlated with AI visibility at r≈0.66, versus ~0.22 for backlinks.
