GEO • AI search visibility
UnifAPI vs Peec AI
Peec AI and UnifAPI can both support repeated AI visibility research. Peec manages the prompt-tracking workspace, history and reporting. UnifAPI supplies live ChatGPT/Gemini evidence and a local monitoring runner that you operate with your own schedule and budget. The decision is how much of the research operation your team wants a platform to manage.
Choose the right fit
Choose Peec AI
Teams that want recurring prompt tracking, competitor views, and ready-made reporting.
Choose UnifAPI
You want live ChatGPT/Gemini evidence, repeatable prompt panels, or API data for your own GEO product. Use the included local monitoring runner or your own application; you control scheduling, storage, analysis, and presentation.
Prompt tracking: who operates the recurring workflow?
Suppose a client wants to know whether AI recommends its project-management product to small teams.
How Peec AI handles it
Peec describes running configured prompts daily through AI products’ web interfaces. The project accumulates observations you can inspect over time. This is useful when the same questions must be revisited consistently without someone remembering to rerun them.
Peec AI · Official sources ↗How UnifAPI handles it
Send the exact question to /geo/answers for a ChatGPT or Gemini web observation, with brand aliases and citation domains. Use /geo/serp separately for Google AI Mode. The included runner can repeat a fixed prompt panel, save JSON/CSV evidence, and compare matching successful samples. You operate the schedule and storage. Use /geo/mentions/search to research existing corpus evidence, not to execute those prompts.
What this means for your team
Both approaches can support repeated observation. The difference is who operates the collection and reporting workflow. Indexed mention research remains a separate measurement.
Visibility scores: what is actually being divided?
A percentage is only comparable when the underlying sample stays comparable.
How Peec AI handles it
Peec defines visibility as the proportion of responses mentioning a brand. Its dashboard also distinguishes position and sentiment. A brand could appear frequently but late in answers, or appear with negative language; those are different problems for a marketer.
Peec AI · Official sources ↗How UnifAPI handles it
UnifAPI returns evidence and aggregate mention breakdowns you can use in your own analysis. Decide whether you count brand names, cited domains, or both. In an illustrative sample of 100 answers, 28 brand mentions and 11 linked citations mean a 28% mention rate and an 11% citation rate, not one interchangeable “visibility” score.
What this means for your team
Do not compare a Peec percentage with the number of rows returned by a domain-filtered API query. The latter excludes the answers where the domain was absent.
From a citation list to a content or PR decision
Finding a cited domain is the beginning of research, not the recommendation itself.
How Peec AI handles it
Peec’s source analysis provides domain and URL views for investigating the material referenced in tracked answers. Its documentation distinguishes a source accessed during answer generation from a citation explicitly referenced in the answer.
Peec AI · Official sources ↗How UnifAPI handles it
Use /geo/mentions/top-domains to identify recurring publishers, then /geo/mentions/top-pages to narrow the research to specific pages. Inspect the answer and source URL before deciding whether the next step is a documentation update, a comparison article, or outreach. Your assistant can turn this evidence into a brief while you retain links for review.
What this means for your team
A frequently cited site is a research lead, not proof that buying a placement there will improve rankings. Separate observed evidence from your proposed action.
Client reporting: a shared workspace or your own deliverable?
Agencies often sell interpretation and recommendations, not access to another dashboard.
How Peec AI handles it
Peec combines project analytics with exports and a Looker Studio connector. A managed workflow is attractive when colleagues need the same filters, charts, and historical context instead of separate spreadsheets.
Peec AI · Official sources ↗How UnifAPI handles it
The included monitoring runner provides dated JSON/CSV snapshots, request IDs, billing, and answer evidence for your own portal or spreadsheet. A stable panel definition preserves prompt text, aliases, engines, and settings. Compare the same successful samples in both periods and report failures separately. You still own client access rules, visual design and delivery; a hosted reporting portal is not included.
What this means for your team
For a handful of irregular audits, usage-based calls avoid unused monitoring capacity. For continuous reporting without an engineer, price the managed workspace against the cost of operating your own pipeline.

The included Node runner checks live prices and a run budget, saves answer evidence to local JSON/CSV, resumes pending cells, and compares paired successful samples. Reuse saved data for reports. Your scheduler starts future runs; a crashed or timed-out request stays unknown until reviewed.

Which engines and regions can you query?
Live custom prompts use Google AI Mode via /geo/serp, or ChatGPT and Gemini web answers via /geo/answers. Indexed mention search and aggregation remain separate: engine=google covers Google AI Overviews; engine=chatgpt covers ChatGPT in the United States, in English. Perplexity and Claude live prompts are not supported. UI translations do not expand data coverage.
Available API building blocks →Pay as you go, with visible call minimums
Credits cost $0.001 each, paid from a prepaid top-up. Charges follow the operation’s per-record rate and minimum; returning fewer records does not remove that minimum. Your assistant subscription, storage, and scheduling costs are separate.
| Workload | ChatGPT / Gemini calls | AI Mode calls | Mention-search calls | Minimum API usage |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| One-off audit | 40 | 20 | 2 | $3.40 |
| Monthly research report | 400 | 100 | 10 | $23.00 |
| Daily collection · 30 days | 6,000 | 3,000 | 30 | $240.00 |
Illustrative workloads, not equivalent competitor plans. The daily example uses 100 prompts on each of ChatGPT and Gemini, 100 AI Mode calls and one indexed search per day for 30 days. Larger result sets and additional collection cost more. Set a maximum budget before running; unknown outcomes are not automatically retried.

Peec AI · Official sources ↗Estimate the workflow before you commit
Budget every operation separately. The monthly example includes 400 ChatGPT/Gemini answers, 100 AI Mode calls and 10 mention searches: at least $23.00 in API usage. The 400 answers can represent 100 prompts × two engines × two samples. This assumes the other calls stay within their billing minimums and excludes history or other extra operations. A prepaid top-up is separate from consumed credits.
See pricingCompare measurements, not just scores
Mention coverage divides successful samples mentioning a brand by all successful samples. Tracked-brand mention share instead divides that brand’s mention samples by the sum of mention samples for every tracked brand. Brands can overlap, so these denominators differ. Count citations separately. Valid no-answer samples remain in coverage; failed or unknown collections do not. For a trend, compare paired successful cells from the same panel and settings. Neither metric measures visits or conversions.
What to check in a trial or demo
For an agency, test whether you need a shared client workspace with daily prompt history or only evidence at report time. Ask Peec which API objects your plan exposes, whether historical answers are exportable, and which models and countries are included. With UnifAPI, define your own client IDs and retain dated answer snapshots.
Plan for the differences
The included runner can repeat your own prompt panel, but UnifAPI does not host its schedule or a project dashboard. Monthly indexed history is available; it is not a replay of your earlier custom prompts. First-party bot logs, sentiment or recommendation-rank scoring, Perplexity/Claude live prompts, and automatic website changes are not included.
Peec’s tracked-prompt history and visibility scores will not transfer automatically. Re-establish your baseline using the same queries, sampling window, and data source.
Which one should you choose?
Choose Peec when your team wants a managed workspace with tracked-prompt history and shared reporting. Choose UnifAPI for focused audits or repeated ChatGPT/Gemini monitoring inside a product, warehouse or assistant workflow you control. Include the cost of operating the local runner, scheduling and reporting when comparing pay-as-you-go data with a subscription.
Questions before you switch
Is UnifAPI always cheaper?
No universal saving is promised. Compare your expected calls and billable records with the subscription or quote you would otherwise buy, including the work needed to build reporting.
Can it replace the entire Peec AI platform?
It can supply public-data building blocks for your own research workflow. Managed dashboards, proprietary metrics, model coverage, and enterprise services differ; choose the full platform if those are your main requirements.
Can I monitor the same prompts over time?
Yes. The included runner samples ChatGPT and Gemini, saves dated local evidence, and compares the same successful cells across runs. Configure your own scheduler for recurring collection. Keep this prompt-panel history separate from the monthly indexed corpus returned by the history, delta and new/lost APIs.
How this comparison was prepared
Prepared by UnifAPI from the linked official product and pricing pages and our published API contract. We did not test paid competitor accounts or benchmark data accuracy. Product facts, our fit assessment, and illustrative cost calculations serve different purposes; the example request is not a live result.
