Zero-click search
A zero-click search is a query the user resolves without clicking any result — the answer is delivered on the results page itself via a featured snippet, knowledge panel, or AI Overview.
Also searched as: zero-click search, zero click searches, no-click search.
Zero-click behavior has been rising for years and AI Overviews push it further: more answers, fewer outbound clicks. The strategic response is not to fight it but to win the answer surface — be the cited source — and to value brand impressions inside answers, not just sessions on your site.
It also raises the importance of measurement that does not depend on clicks. If a buyer learns about you from an AI answer and arrives later via a branded search, last-click analytics will miss the assist entirely.
